We sell FocalPoint in a number of different configurations. The unit is enormously customiseable in terms of the materials used, colours etc. for the case. This page provides information on the options available in terms of the electronic hardware.

Display
In the simplest form, FocalPoint is a computer display, driven from a PC or Macintosh computer with a standard VGA cable. The options here are for on the screen size.  We offer 15", 17" and 20" displays. The 15" has a maximum resolution of 1024 x 748 (XGA). The 17" and 20" have a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 (SXGA).

Touchscreen
For computer use, or kiosk use, a touchscreen can be provided. This is mounted behind the front glass, so is not subject to wear, but operates through the glass. This has a RS232 or USB interface to the computer.

Control computer
FocalPoint can be delivered as a stand-alone kiosk, with a complete PC embedded in the unit. It has networking built-in, to allow you to set the unit up. This would normally be controlled by the touchscreen or by a separate tracker ball or mouse. We can also provide a vandal proof keyboard.

Corian®

Corian is a material invented by Du Pont in the Sixties and is a material used for work surfaces, for sinks, for bar tops, work benches, and in fact, anywhere that a flat hard surface is needed. Corian is a mix of Aluminium Hydroxide and Acrylic which creates a stone-hard surface that can be shaped or machined to meet any design or dimension. It has the following advantages

The inherent resilience of Corian® comes from the fine qualities of minerals and acrylics. Its non-porous surface prevents dirt and stains from penetrating the material. Marks and stains stay on the surface and can easily be removed with a pad and household cleaner

We use Corian in sheet form to build the housing for FocalPoint. It provides a wonderfully tactile experience, with the cool touch of both the Corian and the glass.

Colours
Corian is available in a wide range of colours and appearance. Many of the finishes resemble stone, which makes interesting effects possible.
