Your future starts here

Our company

We are a small but well-formed business. We work from a single office in the Bristol and Bath Science Park, located in the north-east corner of Bristol, near Emersons Green. The working environment is pleasant, with air conditioning for the summer and a woodchip boiler for the winter. The forum is a huge space at the front of the Science Park, with a great cafe. It provides a friendly working environment, as shown by the number of small businesses who operate from the forum. Some of us like to work out there, as it gives a quiet space away from the office. There's a number of sofas and comfortable chairs as well as workbenches. The space is bright and has a buzz of excitement.

The projects we work on are varied, with a small emphasis on scientific instruments. We design new products or add enhancements to existing products for other companies. There is usually a mix of hardware design in electronics and then software design, sometimes low-level embedded code, sometimes PC based applications and a lot of web based applications; even the occasional smartphone based application. The team structure is flat, there's no hierarchy. All of the roles are customer facing, it's important to meet and work with the customer.

Our ambition and values

At Xor Systems, we know that when our customers succeed, we succeed. So, we’ve placed understanding our customers’ requirements and working with them to deliver exactly what they need, to ensure their success, at the heart of our business model. The only thing that we at Xor place above meeting our customers’ expectations is exceeding them.

We pride ourselves on our ability to set and maintain a set of high standards for our organisation. From corporate and individual accountability to reliable cost and time estimates. We always strive to maintain our ethical obligations and meet our corporate standards.

Working at Xor Systems

James

What have I enjoyed about working at Xor systems?

I joined Xor Systems as a placement student in my sandwich year while studying Mechanical Engineering at the University West of England. The thing I enjoy the most about working at Xor Systems has been the vast amount of different skills I picked up while working on a range of exciting projects. Most notably was learning all about PID control, and then implementing what I learned using an Analogue Devices microcontroller. When I first joined Xor Systems I was very grateful for how welcoming, knowledgable and helpful the whole team is, this made it a delight to come into the office every morning!

As soon after I finished my Masters program I got the opportunity to become a member in Xors. I am really glad that I found a place where I can use my knowledge in an area I am really interested on and related to. I have started living in the UK less than two years ago and everything was really new to me. I left Southampton just to be a part of them. I was always afraid and was in a doubt whether everything will work out as I had planned. Fortunately, irrespective of my race and background everyone was really welcoming and friendly since the first day itself. I should mention that starting from the head of staff to senior engineers guided and mentored throughout given tasks with their technical knowledge. I have always found it is easy and enjoyable to work around such an amazing set of people.
